Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp onion powder

Method
 

  1. Melt butter: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant (do not brown).
  2. Make roux: Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly.
  3. Add dairy: Slowly whisk in milk and heavy cream. Continue whisking until smooth.
  4. Thicken sauce: Simmer for 3–5 minutes until sauce thickens.
  5. Add cheese & seasoning: Reduce heat to low. Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and onion powder until smooth.
  6. Cool slightly: Remove from heat and let cool — sauce will thicken more as it rests.
