How to Make Miso Glazed Salmon (Step-by-Step)

🐟 Miso Glazed Salmon Recipe

This Miso Glazed Salmon features a rich, savory-sweet glaze made from miso paste, soy sauce, honey, and sesame oil. The salmon turns tender and flaky while the glaze caramelizes slightly on top, creating an irresistible umami flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • 3 tbsp white miso paste
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin or honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish

Method

  1. 1️⃣ Prepare the Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together miso paste, soy sauce, mirin (or honey), rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic until smooth.
  2. 2️⃣ Marinate the Salmon:
Place salmon fillets in a shallow dish and brush generously with the miso glaze.
Let marinate in the refrigerator for 15–30 minutes for maximum flavor.
  3. 3️⃣ Cook the Salmon:
    Option 1: Oven-Baked
    Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
Place salmon skin-side down and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  4. 4️⃣ Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
Serve with steamed rice, sautéed vegetables, or a simple salad.

Notes

Tips

  • For a caramelized top, broil the salmon for the last 2–3 minutes of baking.
  • Don’t over-marinate — miso can be salty and overpowering if left too long.
  • Leftover glaze can be warmed and drizzled over vegetables or rice.
