🧀 San Giorgio Mac and Cheese Recipe

This San Giorgio Mac and Cheese is rich, creamy, and perfectly cheesy, made with San Giorgio elbow macaroni and a smooth homemade cheese sauce. It’s an easy comfort-food classic that works as a main dish or side.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb San Giorgio elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk (warm)
  • 2½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or Colby-Jack (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp paprika (optional)
  • ¼ tsp dry mustard (optional, for depth)

Method
 

  1. 1️⃣ Cook the Pasta

    Boil macaroni in salted water until al dente.Drain and set aside.
  2. 2️⃣ Make the Cheese Sauce

    Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute (do not brown).Slowly whisk in warm milk until smooth.Cook until thickened, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. 3️⃣ Add Cheese

    Lower heat and stir in cheddar and mozzarella until melted.Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and dry mustard.
  4. 4️⃣ Combine

    Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce.Stir until evenly coated.
  5. 5️⃣ Serve

    Serve hot as-is or bake for a crusty top (see below).

Notes

🔥 Optional Baked Version

Transfer mac and cheese to a greased baking dish.
Top with extra cheese or breadcrumbs.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes, until bubbly.
