Easy Pizza Dough Recipe: Foolproof Homemade Pizza Crust You’ll Love

This Easy Pizza Dough Recipe makes the perfect base for all your favorite toppings. With only a few ingredients, you’ll get a soft, chewy crust with a crisp edge — better than delivery and ready in no time!

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for kneading)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for brushing)

Method

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. (If it doesn’t foam, your yeast may be inactive — try again with fresh yeast.)
  2. Make the dough: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir with a spoon or hands until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead:Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–6 minutes, until smooth and elastic.(Tip: If the dough feels sticky, add 1 tbsp flour at a time until it’s workable.)
  4. Let it rise:Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 30–40 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the crust: Punch down the dough, then roll or stretch it into your desired pizza shape (12-inch round works well). Place on a lightly oiled baking pan or pizza stone.
  6. Add toppings: Spread pizza sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings.
Bake:Bake in a preheated oven at 475°F (245°C) for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  1. Slice & enjoy! Brush crust edges with olive oil or garlic butter for an extra flavor boost.
