Ingredients
Method
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. (If it doesn’t foam, your yeast may be inactive — try again with fresh yeast.)
- Make the dough: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir with a spoon or hands until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead:Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–6 minutes, until smooth and elastic.(Tip: If the dough feels sticky, add 1 tbsp flour at a time until it’s workable.)
- Let it rise:Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 30–40 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the crust: Punch down the dough, then roll or stretch it into your desired pizza shape (12-inch round works well). Place on a lightly oiled baking pan or pizza stone.
- Add toppings: Spread pizza sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings.
Bake:Bake in a preheated oven at 475°F (245°C) for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Slice & enjoy! Brush crust edges with olive oil or garlic butter for an extra flavor boost.
Notes
Tips
- For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
- Double the recipe and freeze half for later.
- Use whole wheat flour for a healthier twist.
